Convent in Oxnard

House in Oxnard

During her official visit to the community in Los Angeles, Mother Provincial Acacia Lasa met with the Visitator of Religious, Monsignor Nicholas Martin, who urged her to begin a foundation in Oxnard. He knew the Servants of Mary very well since they had cared for his mother. The General Government accepted the proposal for the foundation of a convent as well as for a Novitiate. The foundation took place on October 10, 1961. There were five founding Sisters with Mother Expectación Llordén as the Superior. Currently the Novitiate for the United States is located there, and the Community of Sisters are dedicated to caring for the sick in their own home during the day and night, and they also make home visits.
