FRATERNITY OF LAY SONS AND DAUGHTERS
OF SAINT MARIA SOLEDAD IN QUERÉTARO
On May 5, 2010 a group was formed of men and women volunteers full of enthusiasm to help their sick brothers and sisters by offering them their service and their time. This group began when Mother Enedina Rodríguez, Superior of the Community, was invited to a meeting to present our charism and ask for their support to bring about the opening of the dispensary clinic in this Community. Sister Virginia Fernández made the presentation, and all in attendance were filled with great admiration for our charism and the gratuitous work of caring for the sick; when Sister Virginia saw their enthusiasm and admiration for our mission, she invited them to form a volunteer group, and 8 persons accepted the invitation. They received their formation in weekly meetings and retreats and have gradually begun to care for the sick under the supervision of the Coordinating Sister, Sister Virginia Fernández.
On August 15, 2010, Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary into heaven and the 159th Anniversary of the foundation of our Institute, the Lay Sons and Daughters of Saint María Soledad made their consecration to Mary.
Once the Fraternity of Lay Sons and Daughters of Saint María Soledad was approved, 14 members made their official commitment during a para-liturgy on August 14, 2011, spiritually united to the other groups throughout the Congregation.
